No-sew Christmas Cat Crochet Pattern

Cute crochet Christmas cat pattern ๐Ÿฑ
This pattern is designed as a Christmas bauble but can be used as an ornament also. The hat is removable so can still be used once the holiday season is over! All you need is approx 60 minutes and a few materials.

This Pattern is completely free! If you would like a detailed and printable PDF, you can purchase this for immediate download on Etsy.

This kitty is 10cm wide x 7cm long with a 2.5mm hook and 4 ply yarn. You can make this item larger or smaller by changing the hook size and yarn width. Although the pattern uses the colours white, orange and red, you can use any colour scheme you like. If you are not confident with changing yarn, you can choose one colour to use for the entire project.

This pattern is beginner friendly and written in US crochet terms. The only sewing used is for the facial features, the cat itself requires no sewing.

You can make as many cat baubles as you like for yourself or as gifts. You can sell your cat bauble but please credit Crochet at Midnight. In no way can you share, reproduce or sell this pattern.

Place your eyes between rounds 11 & 12 with 7 sc in-between. These should be placed on the orange area leaving the white gap in the middle where the nose and mouth will be.

Sew a 'V' shape for the nose in the center between the eyes. The point of the V should be two rounds down from where the eyes are positioned.

Sew a line going vertically from the point of the nose. Then sew a smaller upside down 'V' for the mouth.

The whiskers should be placed two rounds down underneath the eyes across 1 sc (see picture)

Round 16. (Sc 3, dec) x6 (24) - Add your filling

Pinch the head closed in the center and join both sides together with Sc 3. This should leave two holes of 9 Sc at either side where the ears will be.

You can use a stitch marker from here.

Round 17 - 18. (2 rounds) Sc 9 around the gap (9)

Round 19. (Sc, dec) x3 (6)

Round 20. (Sc, dec) x2 (4)

Use a sl st to join both sides of the top of the ear to close it. Cut & tie and weave in ends.

Tie the orange yarn to the other side and repeat for the second ear.

Hat

Using red yarn, create a MC

Round 1. Sc 4 into MC (4)

Close circle

Round 10. (Sc 4, inc) x4 (24)

Change to white, cut and tie red yarn.

Round 11. (FLO) Sc 24 (24)

Round 12. (Sc 5, inc) x4 (28)

Cut & tie, weave in any ends.

Bobble

Using white yarn, create a MC.

Round 1. Sc 4 into MC

Pull circle closed

Round 2. Inc 4 (4)

Round 3. Sc 8 (8)

Round 4. Dec 4 (4) - sl st into next stitch.

Cut and tie leaving a short tail to attach to the hat.

You can use a tapestry needle or your crochet hook to pull the tail on the bobble through the top of the hat. Then tie a tight knot on the inside of the hat to keep the bobble in place.

If you want to make your cat into a Christmas bauble, cut a small amount of yarn and loop through the 2 sc in between the ears and tie.

The hat should place nicely onto one of the ears. If you are worried about this falling off you can sew it into place.

Your cat bauble is finished!
